Q: I’m a college student from Michigan. Should I register where I live at school or my permanent home address?

That’s up to you! You can register at either your school address or your home address. But you must be a resident of a city or township when you’re registering to vote for at least 30 days before election day in order to register there.

Q: I am not from Michigan, but I go to school here. Can I vote in Michigan?

Yes, if you are eligible and registered to vote first. Just remember: You can vote only once, so if you cast a ballot in Michigan, you cannot vote in your home state.

Q: I’m not yet 18 but I will be by election day. Can I register to vote?

If you are a Michigan resident, at least 16 years old, and a U.S. citizen, you can preregister to vote. You will automatically become an active registered voter when you turn 17.5 years old. If you are 18 years old by election day, you can cast your ballot.
